Il luogo di origine è individuato da Jeanroy 1934, p.365 con "Bélesta, c. de Lavenalet, arr. de Foix"; BEdt 2.0 2009-04-26 idem; BEdT 2.5 idem; DBT un epiteto “parlante”, un sobriquet indicante la condizione di «espatriato, esule», mentre il cognomen topono- masticum è verosimile rimandi al villaggio di Bélesta nell’Ariège (circoscrizione di Lavelanet, distretto di Foix) anziché al castello di Bélesta, comune di Saint-Yllide, cantone alverniate di Saint-Cernin;
